It’s Game over for actress Tia Mowry.
Featured as Melanie Barnett-Davis on BET’s popular series The Game for the past six years, Mowry has confirmed that she will not be returning for its next season.
“Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for season 6. It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun,” the star, 33, confirmed via Twitter Tuesday, explaining that she’ll use her time to pursue other projects, including an ABC Family movie.
Mowry has appeared on the show since its premiere in 2006. Costarring Wendy Raquel Robinson and Pooch Hall, The Game aired on The CW from 2006 to 2009 before BET picked it up in 2011.
Though she’s saying goodbye to BET’s primetime audience, Mowry — who split her time filming the series in Atlanta and with her husband and son in Los Angeles — has no plans to stop appearing on TV entirely.
Tia & Tamera, the STYLE network show on which she stars with her twin sister, premieres its second season June 11.
Mowry released a pregnancy advice book, Oh Baby, on Tuesday. She and her husband, Cory Hardrict, welcomed their son Cree in June 2011.

I don’t know whose gonna replace Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry because they are so amazing. After the fifth season of The Game over I won’t be watching the next season. I’m going to miss Derwin and Melanie the best TV couple on earth. I hope that BET gonna cancel the show when the ratings go down. Will you be watching the next season of The Game?

The music world lost one of its greats Sunday.
“The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery,” a rep tells Us Weekly in a statement. “The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.”
Gibb, 62, was put in a coma after contracting pneumonia in April. In 2010, the tenor had emergency surgery for a blocked bowel and then had an additional operation for a twisted bowel; he also had intestinal surgery on March 26, 2012 to remove a “blood clot that caused perforation.”
Robin’s twin brother, Maurice, died in 2003 at the age of 53 due to complications from a twisted intestine. Their younger brother, Andy, died in 1988 at age 30 of a heart ailment.
The Bee Gees’ soundtrack to the film Saturday Night Fever was one of the best-selling albums of the 1970s. They have won seven Grammy Awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Donna Summer Dies at 63 – UsMagazine.com

in music, news Tags: donna summer, news, postaday2012, press this, r&b, singer, usmagazine.com
The Queen of Disco is gone.
Donna Summer has died at age 63, her family confirmed to the Associated Press on Thursday.
“Early this morning, we lost Donna Summer Sudano, a woman of many gifts, the greatest being her faith,” the statement begins. “While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy. Words truly can’t express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time.”
The chart-topping, Grammy-winning singer behind such colossal disco hits as “Hot Stuff,” “Last Dance,” “Bad Girls” and many others — plus 80s smashes like “She Works Hard for the Money” — passed away in Florida after a battle with cancer.
The biggest, most enduring star of the disco era, Summer helped usher disco, dance and later electronic music into the mainstream — influencing the careers and sounds of Madonna, Beyonce, Michael Jackson and countless others.
She is survived by daughters Brooklyn and Amanda, her grown daughters with husband Bruce Sudano, a fellow musician whom she married in 1980, and Mimi, her eldest daughter with first husband, actor Helmuth Sommer.
Summer’s rep had no immediate comment. According to TMZ, Summer had been working on a new album weeks before her passing.
Born to a devoutly Christian family in the Dorchester section of Boston, Summer’s racy music — her breakout hit “Love to Love You, Baby” featured orgasmic moans — often conflicted with the star’s spiritual beliefs. The mezzo-soprano (whose most famous collaborator was producer Giorgio Morodo, who helped create the groundbreaking track “I Feel Love”) declared herself a born-again Christian in 1979.
After a long absence from live performing, Summer returned to the stage in the early 2000s, and re-recorded “Love to Love You Baby” in 2011 for a “Loverdose” fragrance ad for Diesel.
A five-time Grammy winner, Summer became the first artist ever to score three back-to-back number 1 albums. She was nominated (but not chosen) for induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

Khloe and Lamar — the show, not the couple — is over.
Although the Kardashian family just re-upped with the E! network for three more years of reality programming, the spin-off starring Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom, will not shoot a third season.
“Khloe has pulled the plug,” a source close to Kardashian, 27, tells Us Weekly.
It’s been a tumultuous several months for the pair. Earlier this this month, NBA star Odom, 32, parted ways the the Dallas Mavericks just four months after being traded to the team from the L.A. Lakers.
Back from Dallas, the spouses of two and a half years “have decided he should train all off season,” the insider says. “And she’s exhausted from filming!”
On their agenda? A long, long-delayed honeymoon! (The duo wed in September 2009.)
“They just want to go on their honeymoon and take a breather,” the insider says.
But reality fans have definitely not seen the last of the twosome. In addition to appearances on Keeping Up with the Kardashians (season seven premieres May 20), “Khloe will do another spinoff with either Kim or Kourtney,” the insider explains of big sisters Kim, 31, and Kourtney, 33.

Rihanna and Chris Brown are back together in more ways than one.
On Rihanna’s 24th birthday Monday, the singer released a full-length version of her song “Birthday Cake” (from the album Talk That Talk) featuring new verses by her abusive ex Brown, 23.
“Girl I wanna f-ck you right now. Been a long time I been missing your body,” Brown sings on the remix. “Lemme, lemme turn the lights down. When I, when I go down it’s a private party.”
Brown also tweeted a link to the new version of his song “Turn Up the Music,” which featured additional music by Rihanna; the “We Found Love” singer later retweeted it.
Brown assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna just before the Grammy Awards in 2009. He later pleaded guilty to felony charge and was sentenced to five years probation.
Although Brown is currently dating aspiring model Karrueche Tran, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly that he and Rihanna have been secretly hooking up over the past year.
“Rihanna loves to live dangerously,” says a Rihanna pal. “Talking to and hooking up with Chris is all part of that.”

Amicable exes, indeed!
Three years after Chris Brown infamously assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna (real name Robyn Fenty), the Grammy winner continues to fuel hookup rumors, publicly reaching out to her via Twitter.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBYN!” Brown, 23, tweeted early Monday — the day the “We Found Love” singer turned 24.
Hours later Rihanna responded: “Thanks!”
Although Brown is currently dating aspiring model, Karrueche Tran, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly that he and Rihanna have been secretly hooking up over the past year.
“Rihanna loves to live dangerously,” says a pal of the Barbados beauty. “Talking to and hooking up with Chris is all part of that.”

Whitney Houston’s Funeral Will Be Broadcast Online Saturday – UsMagazine.com

in celebrity, news Tags: funeral, news, postaday2012, press this, tmz, usmagazine.com, whitney houston
Whitney Houston’s funeral services are scheduled to take place at her childhood church, New Hope Baptist Church, in Newark, NJ Saturday, and although doors will be closed to the public, the singer’s family is still allowing fans to pay their respects, albeit, from their living rooms.
CNN confirms that the “I Will Always Love You” singer’s funeral will be broadcast live via livestream.com/aplive — nice news for mourners who won’t be sitting in the 1,500, invitation-only seats.
After the services are over, Houston will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ, where TMZ reports she will be buried next to her father, John Russell Houston, who died in 2003.
On Monday, as Houston’s body was being flown from California to New Jersey, it was speculated that the family would hold a memorial service at the nearby Prudential Center, which holds over 17,000 people, but that rumor disappeared as soon as it surfaced.
“[The family] didn’t want to have a parade,” pastor Marvin L. Winans, who will give the eulogy at Houston’s funeral, told Anderson Cooper on Wednesday. “I don’t think knowing Cissy and the Houston family … it was a matter of public or private as it was this is my daughter, this is my sister, this is my mother, this is my friend and we want to do this with dignity.”
Houston, who was 48 at the time, was found dead inside her Beverly Hills hotel room on Feb. 11. The results of a toxicology report are expected in several weeks.

Report: Whitney Houston Died From Prescription Drugs and Alcohol, Not Drowning – UsMagazine.com

in celebrity, news Tags: bathtub, drugs, postaday2012, press this, tmz, usmagazine.com, whitney houston
Whitney Houston’s body was found partially submerged in her hotel room’s bathtub on Saturday, multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly.
The “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” singer, 48, was found by a member of her team, who then alerted paramedics. After attempting CPR for about 20 minutes, Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m.
While early reports suggested that Houston may have accidentally drowned, sources tell TMZ that Houston’s true cause of death was a lethal combination of Xanax and other prescription drugs mixed with alcohol.
(Prior to her death, Houston had been frank about her drug and alcohol addictions. In a 2009 interview with Oprah Winfrey — two years after her divorce from Bobby Brown — the pop star claimed to finally be sober.)
According to TMZ, coroner’s officials told Houston’s family there was not enough water in her lungs to lead them to believe she had drowned. Houston may have died before her head became submerged, a source adds.
Houston — who was discovered in a nightclub by Clive Davis and went on to sell 170 million albums worldwide — is survived by her daughter Bobbi Kristina, 18, and her mother, Cissy. As of Monday morning, no funeral plans have been announced.

Whitney Houston Dead at 48: “No Signs of Foul Play” – UsMagazine.com
13 Feb 2012 Leave a Comment
in celebrity, news Tags: dead, grammy, news, postaday2012, press this, usmagazine.com, whitney houston
Grammy winning, chart-topping singer Whitney Houston died Saturday afternoon, her rep confirmed to Us Weekly.
One of the most successful and award-winning female artists of all time, Houston was 48, and is survived by Bobbi Kristina, her 18-year-old daughter with ex-husband Bobby Brown to whom she was married from 1992 to 2007. Her body was found at the Beverly Hilton, where the “How Will I Know” singer had been staying.
UPDATE: Authorities confirmed that Houston was found unresponsive in her hotel room Saturday afternoon; paramedics performed CPR for about 20 minutes, and declared her dead at 3:55 p.m.
Her cause of death is still unknown. “Nothing obvious at this time,” Beverly Hills police Lt. Mark Rosen told reporters, according to the LA Times. “No signs of foul play.”
Houston had been in the area to perform at mentor Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammys party, which has now been canceled.
After Houston’s heyday in the late 1980s and early 1990s (including her hugely successful album The Bodyguard, the soundtrack from the film in which she starred), she famously struggled with drug addiction, and her world-famous voice became noticeably raspy on later recordings.
She entered an out-patient drug rehab program in May 2009 for drug and alcohol treatment, her rep confirmed at the time. The “I Will Always Love You” singer opened up to Diane Sawyer in a 2002 interview about her substance abuse problems, saying that she had used marijuana, cocaine and pills “at times” to get high.
In her extraordinary music career, Houston sold over 200 million albums worldwide, won six Grammy awards, two Emmy awards and more.
The superstar was born in Newark, NJ, the daughter of gospel singer Cissy Houston; she was discovered by famed music producer Clive Davis, her champion throughout her career, at an NYC nightclub.
Houston (who followed up her role in The Bodyguard with parts in The Preacher’s Wife and Waiting to Exhale) was set to star in a new film this year, Sparkle, a remake of a 1976 film loosely based on the Supremes.
The Recording Academy was among the first to release a statement after Houston’s death: “Six-time GRAMMY winner Whitney Houston was one of the world’s greatest pop singers of all time who leaves behind a robust musical soundtrack spanning the past three decades. Her powerful voice graced many memorable and award-winning songs. A light has been dimmed in our music community today, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, fans and all who have been touched by her beautiful voice.”
