Hey guys it’s the 4/21 which means the day after. The song for the Sample Saturdays is “White Room” by legendary 60′s rock group Cream that Eric Clapton was on. It was taken from their 1968 album titled Wheels Of Fire which is a double album are studio version and live version.
The first time that I heard the song when I was going back to school from work. It was on the radio station.
This song was sampled by Ashanti in her smash hit single called “The Woman You Love” with Busta Rhymes. It was also used by WZRD (Kid Cudi & Dot Da Genius) in their song called “Upper Room” from their collaborative self titled debut album WZRD.
When I heard Ashanti’s new song I was like “Wow! Shanti is back”. The sample was banging. “The Woman You Love” was produced by Jerry “Wonda” Duplessis and Sham “Sak Pase” Joseph.

This song for the Sample Saturdays is “A Garden Of Peace” by Lonnie Liston Smith. It’s from his 1983 album Dreams Of Tomorrow.
The track went on to become the most sampled song in hip-hop history. It was sampled by many artists including Jay-Z for his ’96 underground classic hit “Dead Presidents”, Moncia, Stacie Orroco, O.C., Plies, Mary J. Blige “Take Me As I Am”, ABN, Total and Young Jeezy for current hit “Leave You Alone” featuring Ne-Yo.
Ski Beatz was the first one to sample it. He filtered the bassline, use Nas’s vocals from “The World Is Yours (Q-Tip Remix)” and add drums from A Tribe Called Quest “Oh My God (Remix)”. I gotta give props to the dude for sampling this record.

Rapper Game sampled this in his song titled “The City” which features Kendrick Lamar from his 2011 The R.E.D. Album. Cool & Dre was a musical genius for flipping this sample

This song was sampled by The Notorious B.I.G. on the original version of his 1997 song called You’re Nobody (Til Somebody Kills You). The original version was produced by DJ Enuff and Jiv Pov. The sample wasn’t cleared so it was replayed on Biggie’s 1997 classic album Life After Death. The Life After Death version was produced by Diddy and Steven “Stevie J.” Jordan.
I read a article on HipHopDX.com about Jiv Pos producing the original version ofYou’re Nobody (Til Somebody Kills You) but he and DJ Enuff produced it on AKAI MPC 3000 in 1995.
The OG version is better than the album version.

The song was sampled by Jay-Z in his 2007 song called “Roc Boys (And The Winner Is)…” which was produced by Sean & LV.
I heard the original sample after listening to “Roc Boys”.

This track was sampled by Fat Joe with Chris Brown in his latest hit called “Another Round”. Cool and Dre produced that joint.
