It’s Game over for actress Tia Mowry.
Featured as Melanie Barnett-Davis on BET’s popular series The Game for the past six years, Mowry has confirmed that she will not be returning for its next season.
“Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for season 6. It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun,” the star, 33, confirmed via Twitter Tuesday, explaining that she’ll use her time to pursue other projects, including an ABC Family movie.
Mowry has appeared on the show since its premiere in 2006. Costarring Wendy Raquel Robinson and Pooch Hall, The Game aired on The CW from 2006 to 2009 before BET picked it up in 2011.
Though she’s saying goodbye to BET’s primetime audience, Mowry — who split her time filming the series in Atlanta and with her husband and son in Los Angeles — has no plans to stop appearing on TV entirely.
Tia & Tamera, the STYLE network show on which she stars with her twin sister, premieres its second season June 11.
Mowry released a pregnancy advice book, Oh Baby, on Tuesday. She and her husband, Cory Hardrict, welcomed their son Cree in June 2011.

I don’t know whose gonna replace Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry because they are so amazing. After the fifth season of The Game over I won’t be watching the next season. I’m going to miss Derwin and Melanie the best TV couple on earth. I hope that BET gonna cancel the show when the ratings go down. Will you be watching the next season of The Game?

With every good tidbit of news – Community, Parks and Recreation renewed! – there must also be some bad. In this case, it’s the fact that NBC also decided to renew Whitney. The sitcom, created by series star Whitney Cummings herself, was considered on the bubble for a while, and most thought it was as good as dead. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
In addition to the renewal of Whitney meaning there will be another season of Whitney on the airwaves, it also means that Cummings will have three shows on television next season: Whitney, 2 Broke Girls (for which she is a co-creator), and her new E! talk show, Love You, Mean It With Whitney Cummings. She will have three, and the rest of us…will have none.

Khloe and Lamar — the show, not the couple — is over.
Although the Kardashian family just re-upped with the E! network for three more years of reality programming, the spin-off starring Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom, will not shoot a third season.
“Khloe has pulled the plug,” a source close to Kardashian, 27, tells Us Weekly.
It’s been a tumultuous several months for the pair. Earlier this this month, NBA star Odom, 32, parted ways the the Dallas Mavericks just four months after being traded to the team from the L.A. Lakers.
Back from Dallas, the spouses of two and a half years “have decided he should train all off season,” the insider says. “And she’s exhausted from filming!”
On their agenda? A long, long-delayed honeymoon! (The duo wed in September 2009.)
“They just want to go on their honeymoon and take a breather,” the insider says.
But reality fans have definitely not seen the last of the twosome. In addition to appearances on Keeping Up with the Kardashians (season seven premieres May 20), “Khloe will do another spinoff with either Kim or Kourtney,” the insider explains of big sisters Kim, 31, and Kourtney, 33.

MTV2 has announced plans to revive Hollywood Squares as Hip Hop Squares, putting a modern twist on the classic game show.
According to EW, the show, which sees contestants answering trivia questions and looking to talent for help in figuring out clues, will feature Nick Cannon, Bam Margera, Kat Graham, DJ Khaled, Biz Markie, Ghostface Killah, Fat Joe, Mac Miller, Machine Gun Kelly and Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Lamar Woodley.
“They cross the spectrum from musicians and celebrities to athletes and causal fans of hip hop,” says Paul Ricci, MTV2′s programming chief. “The show will refresh an iconic format and create a fun, dynamic series that’s unpredictable, heavy on personality and much more ‘party’ than ‘game show’.”
The show will have a 10-episode run on MTV2 beginning on May 22 at 11 p.m. A second 10-episode block will air at a later date.
