Hollywood is mourning the death of legendary TV actor Andy Griffith, who passed away Tuesday at the age of 86.
According to Griffith’s close friend, former University of North Carolina president Bill Friday, who spoke to TMZ, the actor died at his home in Manteo, N.C. Tuesday morning.
Best known for his 1960s sitcom The Andy Griffith Show, the actor also appeared in the beloved legal drama Matlock.
Also a comedian, director, producer and singer, Griffith leaves behind his third wife, Cindi Knight, whom he wed in 1983.
